Free tools from the Fellowship of Living Systems / Food System Hackers · Effective 3 October 2026

The short version: these tools run entirely in your browser. There are no accounts, no tracking, and no advertising. We don't collect or store your data on our servers. Your scripts, settings, and recordings stay on your device.

What these tools are

This is a small shelf of free, open-source web tools (such as the teleprompter and the Cutting Board video editor). Each one is a self-contained page that does its work in your browser. You don't sign in, and we don't know who you are.

What we do not collect

What stays in your browser

To be useful, a tool may save small things locally on your device using your browser's storage (localStorage) — for example, the teleprompter remembers your script, text size, and language. This never leaves your device and is never sent to us. Clearing your browser's site data removes it.

Voice-follow and speech recognition

The teleprompter's optional “follow my voice” feature uses your browser's own built-in speech recognition to match the words you say to the words on screen. In Google Chrome, that means your microphone audio is sent to Google's speech-recognition service to be turned into text — the same mechanism as Chrome's voice typing. This happens between your browser and Google; we never receive, see, or store that audio or transcript. It is governed by your browser vendor's privacy policy (for Chrome, Google's Privacy Policy). Voice-follow is entirely optional — if you'd rather not use it, scroll by hand or use the steady auto-scroll, and don't turn on the microphone.

Camera and recordings

When you record with the teleprompter, the video is captured and saved on your device (straight to your downloads). Recordings are never uploaded by these tools. The same is true of video you load into the Cutting Board editor — it is processed locally in your browser and never sent to a server.

Web server logs

Like virtually every website, the server that hosts these pages may keep standard technical logs of requests (for example your IP address, the time, the page requested, and your browser type). These are used only to operate and secure the site, are not used to profile or track you, and are not combined with anything else to identify you.

Third parties

The only third parties involved are: your browser's speech-recognition service (for example Google), and only when you choose to use voice-follow; and the web host that serves these static pages. These tools include no third-party advertising, analytics, or social-media trackers.

Children

These tools are not directed at children, and because we collect no personal data, we do not knowingly collect information from anyone, including children.

Changes

If this policy changes, we'll update the date at the top of this page.
